The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University was established in 2006. It was originated from the two majors: Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Engineering.

Research achievements
Recent five years, a number of major and key projects were undertaken by the college (> 200 research projects, and > 100 million CNY), including projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation, National Major Projects. The scientific research fund and research papers are increasing steadily over the years. During 2017-2022, faculties and students from the college have published more than 500 high-level papers including SCI, obtained more than 80 Invention Patents, 3 Clinical Approvals for New Drugs, 5 Certificates for New Veterinary Drugs, and 6 National Standards for New Veterinary Drugs.
4. Internationalization
The college encourages teachers and students to exchange abroad, invites foreign experts to teach in SWU, holds international academic conferences, as well as recruits international undergraduates, postgraduate students, doctoral students, and post-doctor. The college also launched exchange programs with Khon Kaen University, Thailand and a joint training program of ‘3+1’ dual bachelor degree program in Biopharmaceuticals with Institute of Technology Carlow, Ireland.
