Zhifeng Fu is a professor of pharmaceutical analysis and the dean of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University. He received his Ph. D. degree in 2007 from Nanjing University. During 2010 - 2011 and 2013 – 2014, he worked as a visiting professor in Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and University of Connecticut, respectively. He was selected as“New Century Excellent Talent in University” in 2011 and “Bayu Scholar in Chongqing” in 2013.
His research interests are described as following:
Chemiluminescent immunoassay: he proposed a series of multiplexed immunoassay strategies including substrate-resolved immunoassay, channel-resolved immunoassay, two dimensional-resolved immunoassay and chemiluminescent kinetics-resolved immunoassay. These strategies have been applied for the detection of biomarkers, abused drugs, and toxic substances.
Pathogens detection and infections treatment: he established a series of antibiotic- and phage-affinity strategies for the detection of pathogenic bacteria. Based on the strategies, he developed some kits and POCT devices for some common pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus mutans. These kits and POCT can be used for diagnosis of infectious diseases. He also developed some recombinant phage proteins for lyzing various drug-resistant pathogens, which show promise in the treatment of infectious diseases.
Biopharmaceutical analysis: he combined sensitive chemiluminescent detection with effective separation techniques such as microdialysis and capillary electrophoresis to establish some novel methods for biopharmaceutical analysis and study the interactions between drug and biological macromolecules such as protein, nucleic acid and antibody.
Up to now, with the financial support from 19 fundings, he has published over 110 peer reviewed papers in high-reputation journals such as Analytical Chemistry, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, and Chemical Communications. He also published 3 book chapters focusing on immunoassay and biosensor. Due to the outstanding research works, he won Chongqing Natural Science Award in 2018 and Chongqing Top Ten Science and Technology Youth Award in 2016.
